In-mold decorating (IMD) and in-mold labeling (IML) integrate graphics or labels into a molded plastic component during production. A graphic overlay or film is placed into the injection mold so the decoration becomes part of the finished component.
This approach can eliminate separate adhesive-applied labels, improve graphic durability, and support component and cost reduction. It is especially useful for control panels, displays, bezels, covers, and housings where graphics must withstand repeated use.
